Classic Style From Nashville to London

English country styleWe are thrilled to be featuring Shelby Taylor of the popular Taylor Lane blog and @shelbyclouthier Instagram. If you love classic style and all things grandmillennial, look no further! (Pictured: Shelby is wearing the primavera bow earrings).

Can you share a little bit about yourself?
I am 25 years old and from Nashville, Tennessee! I just got engaged to my fiancé, Oscar, who is from England and we will be living in London for a few years. I recently graduated with my masters in child and family studies, with a minor in statistics, and a certificate in international children, youth, and family. I hope to work in the education system. My hobbies include running, reading, playing tennis, walking my dog, going to the theatre, painting, photography, and writing for my blog, Taylor Lane!

We love your style! Where do you get outfit inspiration from?

Thank you! I get my inspiration from everywhere; music, books, travels, and even home decor! I think the biggest influence is movies - I love classic movies and they definitely inspire me to build a classic and timeless wardrobe. I love blue and white pieces, florals, and feminine details. Lately I have been finding inspiration from the Victorian and Edwardian eras. I am obsessed with the puff sleeves, bows, ruffles, and long, flowing dresses!

If you had to pick one home decor item you can't live without, what would it be?
I definitely can’t live without ginger jars and coffee table books. Both are so effortless and easily tie together any room. I also love strolling through antique shops to find hidden treasures!

You recently got engaged - congratulations! Can you tell us a bit about the proposal?
Thank you! Yes, of course! Oscar and I have been together for about 6.5 years, but I hadn’t seen him in 9 months due to the virus. Finally I decided to (safely) fly to England to see him in September. Oscar and I love our daily dog walks and take one everyday before tea. On October 22nd we decided to walk at Burghley House in Stamford. It is the most beautiful Tudor mansion with stunning architecture and grounds. Oscar proposed there by the horse stables. We spent the day celebrating with our families and announced it the next day on social media. We are so thankful for the sweet messages and well wishes we received and are beyond excited!

What is your favorite thing about visiting the UK?
My favorite thing about visiting the UK is the history, tradition, and architecture. It is such a lovely country filled with the most beautiful buildings, vibrant city, and stunning countryside. The rich food and the traditions surrounding tea are something I always look forward to. I also love the abundance of fun events and activities such as racing, tennis, polo, museums, and the theatres. Surprisingly, I also enjoy the weather - I do love a good chilly, rainy day, and of course, summers in the English countryside are so special!

Is there anything from Sea to Skye that fits your style and/or decor aesthetic?
Definitely! Oscar grew up in the countryside and I have loved spending so much time there and adding pieces of English countryside style to my wardrobe. Sea to Skye has the most lovely pieces. The vintage items, tartan scarves, and art prints are gorgeous! I especially love the pearl earrings designed by Tiffany of T. Marie Designs - I have a pair of my own and they are simply stunning!
